Title: Detour
Director: Adrian Vitoria
Script: Lee Karaim
Producers: Ian Brady & Stephen Salter |
Synopsis: Twenty years ago the entire McKlusky family were butchered
in their remote farmhouse, becoming the final victims in a vicious killing
spree by a sadistic killer called Waxler. A drifter who was later caught
and readily confessed to many more murders, Waxler refused to comment
when questioned that, due to the slow and calculated nature of the torture,
he must have had an accomplice. Now, five young friends are driving across
country on their way to a music festival and, as a dare, decide to stop
to visit the abandoned farmhouse. Under extreme peer pressure, some of
them agree to go inside and look around, a decision that will lead to
history repeating itself as one by one the friends are viciously butchered.
Could the rumoured accomplice be active again? A classic teenage US set
horror/thriller.

Synopsis: Across the city organised gangs are fighting for
control of the lucrative supply of narcotics but supremacy in this
violent world is short-lived as younger, hungrier and more ruthless
gangs move up. Against this brutal backdrop Ged Brennan, Moby, Ratter
and their crew pursue a dying trade of old time heists but, with
two decades of meticulously planned jobs behind him, Ged is now
planning to turn his back on this life but not before planning one
final heist. As usual, he won't give them any details until the
morning of the job so, until then, they have to stay off the street
and keep out of trouble. The problem is that Moby loves to go out
and with just days to go before the heist, an incident in a lapdance
bar nearly leads to a gang war. Ratter, meanwhile, has long since
outgrown the needless danger of Ged's blags and is desperate to
cut all links with the crew but, for now, he has his own sinister
reasons for staying on board. As the make-or-break heist approaches,
Ged needs to summon all his street nous and killer instinct just
to survive and even then he needs friends in low places to ensure
that the stains vanish without trace.

Going Off Big Time
Nominated for four British Independent Film Awards including best production
and released by Entertainment Film Distributors.
Described by Total Film as "Funny and angry...comparisons with Tarantino
are not unjustified" and by the Daily Star as "an exciting and
fast moving thriller", Going Off Big Time is the hard hitting
story of the rise to power of Mark Clayton (Neil Fitzmaurice) to become
one of the most powerful men in Liverpool.
Opening with a scene of violence and mayhem in a pub, the film unfolds
in flashback as Mark recounts to his lawyer (Sarah Alexander) how bad
luck and judgement turned him firstly into a hardened con, then into a
small-time gangster. The prison sequences feature a masterly performance
by Bernard Hill as the older con who shows Mark the ropes; the second
half charts Clayton's rise to power taking over nightclub doors, running
protection scams and dealing drugs. Director Jim Doyle, Screenplay Neil
Fitzmaurice.

Re-Inventing Eddie Winner of the Tribeca Best Film Award at the Galway Film Festival and
the Jury and Audience Prizes for Best Film at the Cherbourg Film Festival.
Eddie Harris (John Lynch) is a 'normal' dad, who loves his life, job and
most of all his family. His philosophy is honesty and frankness and he
agrees with his wife Jeanie (Geraldine Somerville) to be open and natural
when answering their children’s questions about the facts of life.
However, his frankness lands him in trouble and before long social workers
are swarming to his doorstep. In an attempt to keep his family together,
he is forced to exile himself and with the benefit of some misguided advice
from his best friend Cliff (John Thompson) embarks on a quest to become
a ‘normal’ dad again. Wickedly funny and extremely poignant, Re-Inventing
Eddie is a journey of lost innocence and false accusations. Director
Jim Doyle, Screenplay Ian Brady and Jim Doyle from the play One Fine Day
by Dennis Lumborg.
"This is a timely look at a worrying subject...Lynch and Somerville
neatly portray the frustration of people caught up in something beyond
their control." HOTDOG ***
"Lynch brings sincerity to an awkward role and FAST SHOW alumnus John
Thompson supplying gentle humour as his best mate." TOTAL FILM ***
